When they were young, Edward Elric (Ryosuke Yamada) and Alphonse's younger brother died. The brothers tried to revive their mothers and carry out human transmutations which were taboo in alchemy. Their efforts failed. As a result, Edward lost parts of his body and Alphonse lost his entire body. Edward sacrificed another part of his body to cover Alphonse's soul into the body of armor. Edward later became an Alchemist. He established a journey to find the "Philosopher's stone", which had the power to restore what they lost.
